Leadership Development for STEM Women

CONFIDENCE   *  COMMUNITY   *  CONNECTIONS
Leadership Development for STEM Women (LDSW) is designed for higher education professionals to include students, faculty, and early-career alumna of STEM programs as well as early and mid-career professional women in STEM.
LDSW is a six-month career and professional development program that provides women in STEM with: leadership development workshops, peer-group learning circles, mentoring and one-on-one coaching designed to build personal leadership skills.

Develop leadership skills and broaden your social and professional networks with the STEM-UP Network, a social enterprise dedicated to the representation, representation, retention, and advancement of women in the STEM fields.

Peer Learning Groups

to practice and apply skills.

Peer group assignments are established at the start of the program and shared with you prior to program start date.  Groups meet online in the weeks between workshops and follow an established agenda based on the content of the previous workshop.  These sessions are peer-facilitated and often a highly meaningful aspect of the program designed to review content, gain new insights, commit to practice and for networking.  Often our groups continue meeting after the program ends.  Five sessions, 45 minutes per session

Professional Coaching

to focus goals and resolve challenges.

One-on-one coaching designed to individualize the program to your specific needs.  Includes initial goal-setting session followed by two sessions held in-between workshops to enhance program application and resolve problems, including:  Understanding strengths, gaps and blind spots; Creating possibilities and new perspectives; Career development planning; and Objective and confidential resource.

In this workshop, the focus is on understanding your personal style in conflict situations; developing a process for increasing productive responses in conflict; and improving your results and relationships.

In this workshop, the focus is on understanding the spectrum of negotiations and developing strategies that build trust; identifying opportunities to create value in a negotiation; and understanding what is most important when preparing to negotiate anything.

In this workshop, the focus is on learning how to effectively get recognized for your accomplishments; understanding how to navigate advocacy obstacles and speak up with confidence; and developing a communication plan for your advocates and mentors.

In this workshop, the focus is on understanding and aligning priorities with time; managing work skillfully using new tools and processes; and learning strategies for navigating psychological and structural barriers.
