Our highly successful Mentoring Program brings pairs together with focus on career satisfaction, productivity and promotion.
One-to-one pairs are formed by matching junior and senior professionals based on strengths and needs. Our required orientation (in September) is followed by a structured mentor relationship: pairs identify career goals, hold periodic phone or in-person sessions and continue the process over the course of a year. Career-focused workshops, events and forums are offered throughout the program year and include a networking component designed to support the mentoring relationship and foster additional relationships among STEM professionals. Executive Committee Members hold periodic reviews for added support and structure to the program.
Our current Mentor Program includes 44 STEM professionals engaged in mentoring partnerships.
My mentee’s enthusiasm is contagious! Through conversations with her I have realized that it is time I re-worked some of my own approach. These are things I have been thinking about, but had been putting on the back burner.
Consulting & Coaching
STEM-UP provides a network of experts to work with your organization to provide consulting services targeted at supporting your efforts in recruiting, retaining, and advancing women STEM professionals. Our services are designed to complement your already existing internal initiatives. Our bottom line is about improving your bottom line with a balanced and more competitive workforce, as well as reducing the opportunity cost of losing your women STEM professionals.
Here are some ways we work with organizations (business, government, military, and higher education):
- Provide gap and needs analyses on policies and practices in support of gender equity, particularly for those organizations already committed to addressing gender equity
- Identify and reduce implicit bias in hiring and career development and advancement practices
- Assist with internal, capacity building initiatives and supports in leadership and professional development
- Research and measure impacts of initiatives and supports for women in STEM within your organization

Whenever there is a gap between where you are and where you want to be, there is room for Coaching!
Coaching is a process that helps facilitate thinking around positive changes you want to make over time. It includes identifying and clarifying what you want to achieve and moves through generating solutions and strategies to try. Coaching can be used as a problem-solving process and as a resource for accountability.
If you want to improve your effectiveness at work and in life, a Professional Coach could help.
Many of our programs include coaching sessions, held in person or by phone. To learn more about STEM-UP Coaching outside of our program offerings, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
