The STEM-UP Network has partnered with Women in Tech USA to promote the inclusion of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) careers and coordinate their programs and outreach to encourage college and university students, young professionals, and higher education faculty to take advantage of the real-world strategies and relationships provided by the partnership.

In this spirit, the partners will present a series of events this year built upon the theme of the importance of networking to the success to the success of women in STEM.

The first event, a virtual workshop titled, “Maximize Connections and Advance Your Career,” will take place from 9-11:30 a.m. ET on March 31. This interactive workshop, facilitated by Madeline Tomchick of Microsoft and Beverly Magda, Ph.D., of Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, will focus on the value of personal and professional networks, developing skills, and identifying strategies to build and maintain networks, and rehearsing networking techniques. Discussion will focus on the use of networking to help shape career growth and fuel personal brands early in careers.

The second event, “Success in STEM Women’s Leadership Summit 2022,” will take place on April 29and will feature women leaders in STEM, from across the U.S. and beyond, who will share their expertise and discuss networking and the growth of women in STEM careers.

“We are excited to partner with Women in Tech USA to pool our resources, strategies, and relationships that will encourage the growth of women in STEM careers,” said Dr. Bilita Mattes, STEM-UP Network Executive Director and Provost and Chief Academic Officer of Harrisburg University. “And I would encourage all women in STEM careers or those who are interested in entering the STEM workforce to attend our events. These events provide exceptional networking opportunities and introduce a wealth of helpful information for women in STEM.”
